"Let's Chat & Talk using MSN" Sharing Session

Once again S.R.T.T held a sharing session on a program called "Let's chat and talk in English using MSN for upper primary pupils" with Tutong II primary schools. 2 schools from Tutong I also came to this session. S.R.T.T introduced this program to Tutong II schools last year and successfully conducted it with some schools. This is a follow up session to share with other schools.

Among the objectives of this program are
: Be creative.
: Use standard or proper English language effectively and as mode of communication.
: Share information and current updates of pupils’ daily activities in school.
: Build cross-curricular learning skills.
: Communicate with others and present information in a range of ways.
: Develop the skills to select and use information in a discriminating, purposeful way.
: Increase their confidence and independence in expressing themselves when communicating
with others.



How S.R.T.T uses MSN in English learning?

Today, Instant Messaging in educational setting is relatively new and its usage is viewed as relatively low. However, Sekolah Rendah Tumpuan Telisai took the challenge in carrying out the program as an additional tool in promoting English learning for its pupils.

MSN messaging is carried out during English-ICT lesson. Pupils are allowed to use MSN for 30 minutes only. Sekolah Rendah Tumpuan Telisai has cooperated with other Primary schools in Tutong II in running this program and making it as one of the indirect way of learning practice during English lesson.

In this program, pupils get to use variety features of MSN such as file sharing and video conferencing. During video conferencing, pupils communicate verbally with their partner, thus this may help them to improve their communication (speaking) skill apart from typing the keyboard alone.

Here are some of the benefits


1. It can be used to provide on-demand just-in-time support for pupils.
2. Multiple conversations can be occurring between students or between pupils without any of
them being interrupted or disturbed.
3. More pupils can participate than in a traditional class.
4. It helps pupils prepare for a 21st century multi-tasking work environment.
5. Pupils can communicate with other pupils locally and internationally.
6. It is convenient, fast, quick respond and cheap.
7. Exposed to the use of proper English Language as a mode of communication.


Though MSN is relatively new to the educational environment and it is raising many questions and concerns, this program has proven to give positive impact on pupils’ English learning provided that it is used under full supervision by teachers or parents and only used for educational purposes, in which Sekolah Rendah Tumpuan Telisai has done in running this program efficiently.

In preparation for the Netball tourney

It has been a few weeks now since the team started their practice in preparation for the upcoming "Kejohanan Bola Jaring Sekolah-sekolah Rendah".

Today the team played against the teachers as the opponent team during the co-curriculum period.

::Farewell Gathering::

A farewell lunch gathering was held in S.R.T.T to celebrate its former Headmaster and Assistant Headmistress, Cikgu Haji Rosli Bin Haji Akup and Cikgu Shetela Binti Tawang respectively.

Present at the event were S.R.T.T's Headmaster, Cikgu Mohmad Ali Bin Haji Nudin, teachers and staff.








Also in the event, four former assistant clerks/attachment students were celebrated for their 6 months work attachment in S.R.T.T.

Talked on DRUG by BKN

Today a briefing titled "Taklimat Anti-Dadah dan Bahaya Sindiket Dadah Antarabangsa" was presented by two officers from the Narcotics Control Bereau.

Among the aim of this awareness talk is to remind the children/youth and public of International Drug syndicates that are currently infiltrating the Asian region through the use of the Internet.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has taken steps to educate the Bruneian youths in the form of reminders of the danger of an international drug-trafficking syndicate that exploits or uses people from some Southeast Asian countries as their "couriers".

Where's the Bookworm? It's in the LIBRARY

Soon after the prizes presentation for the Spelling Competition, another happening event in the school was the Opening Ceremony of our own Library. The library was renovated since two months ago and was perfectly done the day before the opening ceremony. Before the guest of honor, Cikgu Abdul Kani, officially opened the library, the headmaster of S.R.T.T, Cikgu Haji Rosli presented his speech.

Among the words from the headmaster were:

" Pengubahsuaian ini menyahut saranan Bahagian Pendidikan Rendah untuk melihat perpustakaan sebagai satu tempat educational multipurpose, menarik, selesa, harmoni, di mana stakeholdernya terdiri daripada guru-guru dan murid-murid dapat mengoptimisedkan penggunaannya dalam iklim yang menyeronokkan sambil menimba ilmu melalui multi aktiviti yang telah dirancang"

"Dalam merancang perubahan perpustakaan memerlukan perancangan yang comprehensive dengan mengambil kira keperluan stakeholder dan semasa. Dari sini lahirlah Theme KIDS bagi perpustakaan S.R.T.T ini yang mempunyai matlamat dan expectation yang akan sentiasa diusahakan untuk mencapainya. Akronim KIDS membawa makna KNOWLEDGE, INFORMATION, DISCOVERY, STATION membawa pengertian yang besal dalam usaha pihak sekolah menuju kearah perpustakaan yang dinamik dan progressive yang mampu mencapai citarasa stakeholder yang juga selari dengan SPN 21."

It was an eventful day and Alhamdulillah everything went well :)

ES.PI. EE. EL. EL. EM. ME

On the 15th of August a Spelling Competition Zone level for the Tutong II primary schools was held at Sekolah Rendah Tumpuan Telisai. The competition for the zone level was carried out to select the best speller for Tutong II zone. 13 pupils were selected from each school in Tutong .The guest of honor for that day was Cikgu Abdul Kani bin Abdullah, PPKDT of the Tutong Department of schools. 

This competition is held for the Knowledge Discovery National Spelling Competition. It is held at five different levels (school, zone, district, state and national) where all the finalists from each state that qualify will participate at the National Level competition in Malaysia. 

The main objectives of this competition are:

1. To enhance the students' spelling capabilities and enrich their vocabulary 

2. To improve the standard of English among the students 

3. To encourage reading habits among the students since the students may have to read a variety of English-related materials in order to prepare for the spelling 

The written round was held at the ICT room

The teachers from the Tutong II primary schools marking the pupils' answer sheets to slelect the 6 finalist for the Oral round. 

The oral round was held at the school's hall.
