English-ICT Cross Curriculum "Let's Talk and Chat in English Year 6"

A conference was held yesterday, 27th January 2009 at Sekolah Rendah Tumpuan Telisai and hosted by the school itself. It was presented by Cikgu Siti Noraziah and assisted by Ustaz Marhawe, Cikgu Thedaus and Cikgu Fakhrul. The conference was attended by Tutong II primary schools.
This program involves pupils and the use of ICT to communicate and share their daily school activities with peers from different schools. Pupils involved should be using English language to communicate as part of the program’s necessity. English subject is chosen for this program because it is one of the important subjects in PSR. Thus, through this activity, pupils can improve their verbal and writing skills in English. In this program, Instant Messaging (MSN) is used as a tool for pupils to exchange or share their ideas, class works, class projects or their current study progress.
The objectives are~
: To be creative
: Use English language effectively and as mode of communication
: Share information and current updates of pupils’ daily activities in school
: Build cross-curricular learning skills
: Communicate with others and present information in a range of ways
: Develop the skills to select and use information in a discriminating, purposeful way
: Increase their confidence and independence

Alhamdulillah the conference went well with the cooperation from the involved teachers. It is hoped that this conference will give benefits and enhancement for pupils and teachers as well.
